TOUR PAYMENT:

LAND INCLUDING AUSTRALIA DOMESTIC FLIGHTS:

The land portion of the Around Australia tour is paid by, check, money order or bank wire.  Due to the escalating cost of merchant credit card processing, if we accepted credit cards, the cost of our tour would need to be approximately $500 per person higher. Clearly this is unwarranted and provides negligible value for the number of award miles received.  Also, as outlined above, you can receive travel insurance protections for the air and land portions of your tour by purchasing your international air ticket with rewards type credit cards such as Chase and CitiBank.

Cancellation/ Refund:  Cancellations of confirmed bookings result in penalties and fees assessed by travel suppliers. If you need to cancel for any reason prior to tour departure, the following cancellation fees will be assessed:

International Air: Tour members on the Around Australia Tour arrange their own international air including any connecting flights from their home city and are subject to the cancellations rules and regulations of the carrier.

Australia Domestic Air: Australia domestic air is included in the price of the tour.  Australia domestic air is 100% non refundable once the tour balance has been paid in full, 90 days prior to departure. If a tour member cancels 90 days or more prior to departure the non refundable deposit received by the airline and any other carrier, cancellation fees are non-refundable.

Land:  Cancellation fees for the land portion of the tour, exclusive of all Australia domestic air are as follows:

91 days or more prior to departure:      $400.00
45-90 days prior to departure:                 50% of land price
31-44 days prior to departure:                  75% of land price

Not Included In The Tour Price: The following items are not included in the land tour price, unless otherwise noted: international airfare to and from your home city to Melbourne and from Sydney. Not included are taxes, airline baggage fees, including additional checked and/or excess baggage fees, passports; visas, vaccinations,  laundry and/or dry cleaning; telephone calls, mini-bar alcohol, beverages, meals not listed as included on the Around Australia Tour, excess hotel charges, airport transfers on arrival in Australia and departure from Australia, optional excursions, porterage at airports, travel insurance protection, personal services, any items of a personal nature, all medical needs or expenses and items not specified above as included. Optional tours and events, travel insurance and medical items or services are not included. Gratuities for hotel housekeeping staff, personal services and your Tour Director are also not included.

International Air:  Around Australia Tour 2021 participants arrange their own air to and from Australia.  This includes flights from their home city to Melbourne, Australia to meet up with the group in Melbourne on September 7, 2021 and return air from Sydney at the end of the tour. Those passengers not doing pre tour extensions including additional pre tour room nights in Melbourne, need to depart the USA on  September 5, 2021  to arrive in Melbourne on September 7, 2021 due to the day lost enroute and crossing the international dateline. (flights from Hawaii to Australia may have different time parameters.)   Most end-of-tour non stop flights homeward from Sydney re-cross the International Dateline and arrive in the USA the same day they depart Australia.

Currently, non stop flights from Los Angeles to Melbourne are available on Qantas and United.  Virgin, currently, offers non stop service five days a week (excluding Monday and Wednesday).  Currently, non stop flights from San Francisco to Melbourne are available daily from Qantas and United.  Currently, non stop return flights from Sydney to Los Angeles are offered on Qantas, United and Virgin and from Sydney to San Francisco on Qantas and United.  Please note that these current services are subject to change.

We recommend that tour members consider planning to arrive in Melbourne one or more days before the tour begins on September 7, 2021.  This will allow time to recuperate from the long flight from the USA and to take advantage of the plethora of interesting activities and experiences that extra time in Melbourne will allow.  Additional pre-tour accommodation nights in Melbourne, at our tour hotel, can be booked directly with the hotel or other preferred booking source.   Tour members may also choose to book pre tour nights at another property in Melbourne.

In helping to determine, if and how many days, you would like to extend at either the beginning or the end of the Around Australia Tour, please read the comprehensive Melbourne and Sydney Information provided in the links listed below or in the drop down link on the HOME PAGE under - TOUR DETAILS - SYDNEY INFORMATION  and  MELBOURNE INFORMATION.

WE VERY STRONGLY ADVISE THAT ALL TOUR MEMBERS DISCUSS THEIR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT DATES AND TIMES WITH ASI TOURS BEFORE CONFIRMING FLIGHT BOOKINGS.

In today's travel marketplace there are many advantages to doing your own international air when participating in an international group tour. These advantages include:

The opportunity to manage your own international air reservation including any special requests; this includes arranging any pre and post tour travel options regarding Australia or other destinations.

Choice of carriers and routing:  Currently many carriers service Australia from the USA.  These include, Qantas, Air New Zealand, American, United, Delta, Virgin, Air Tahiti and Fiji Airlines.  Some carriers routing's include exotic Pacific Islands such as Tahiti, Fiji and the Cook Islands allowing island vacation stopover options.

Ticket cost:  The days when airlines would offer unbeatable special below market net pricing on international flights to tour operators to pass on to their group customers are long past.  Today the best prices on international flights tend to result from price shopping the market place on-line.  Purchasing your own international air allows you to take advantage of specials and other low cost pricing opportunities offered both by airlines and other on-line air ticket providers.  This especially applies to ticket upgrade options to premium economy, business class and first class.  Always pay close attention to the rules, regulations and restrictions regarding international flights.

Purchasing your international tickets with award miles:  If using hard earned award miles for your international flights to Australia is preferred, we want our tour members to have that opportunity.

Obtaining the seating you prefer for the two long international flights:

Securing requested seating for international flights when part of a group booking is a major problem in the travel industry today and the source of many customer complaints to both tour companies and the airlines. We understand how important it is to have the seating you desire on long international flights to Australia and our policy allows you to get the seat/s you want.

Credit card insurance coverage:  With many reward type credit cards, paying for the international air portion of your tour with your credit card provides trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance coverage not just for the international air portion of your trip paid with your credit card but also for the land part of your tour not paid for with your credit card.  Check with your credit card provider to see what types of coverage they provide.  If you have more than one credit card compare what they offer as coverage conditions can vary greatly.

Melbourne Hotel Check-In: The tour's, Melbourne hotel, check-in is not guaranteed before 3:00 PM.   The hotel will provide rooms earlier if and as they become available.  Should tour members wish to have a guaranteed room ready for immediate check-in upon arrival, purchasing a pre-tour room night is necessary.

Sydney Hotel Post Tour Nights: Post tour nights at the Adina Darling Harbour, Sydney can be booked directly with the hotel or with other preferred booking sites.

Documents: A valid passport and visa for travel to Australia is required.

Tour Extensions: Tour member arrange their own international air to and from Australia.  All pre and post tour extensions are on the tour members own arrangements.
