This enthralling small group adventure, (maximum of 24 tour members) offers a remarkably diverse one-of-a-kind experience featuring the best of wild, rural and urban Australia. The tour has a special focus on Tasmania, Western Australia and the Top End of the Northern Territory, areas never experienced by groups on a single journey.  Natural Australia and particularly the unique wildlife and fascinating indigenous cultures are featured throughout this epic adventure.

In Tasmania, experience the pristine East Coast, historic Pt. Arthur, rural colonial towns and farms and the attractive, hilly riverfront city of Hobart. Upon arrival in the lost-in-time Northern Territory explore  the exotic tropical Top End including Darwin, Nitmiluk Gorge National Park and Kakadu National Park as well as Ayers Rock and Alice Springs in the Red Centre.  In alluring Western Australia we visit the glorious, light infused river and sea front city of Perth and the nature endowed Southwest featuring Margaret River wine and farming country and endless picture book coastal landscapes. Later in tropical Far North Queensland you experience vibrant Cairns, the awe inspiring Great Barrier Reef at Moore Reef, preserved ancient rain forest's and the Cape Tribulation wilderness.   This one-of-a kind compendium of touring attractions is sandwiched between tour beginning and tour ending visits to Australia's famed, world class signature cities, Melbourne and Sydney.  This makes both pre and post tour individual extensions easy and convenient.  We are indeed proud to offer an itinerary that showcases, like no other, the incredible diversity of the truly amazing island continent of Australia.

The Around Australia Tour is designed for discerning travelers who wish to experience the most comprehensive tour of Australia, available.  Opportunities to meet and interact with the hospitable local Aussies will be yours, on a daily basis.  Those who like to walk and hike will have opportunities to do so throughout the tour.  To participate on this tour a moderate level of fitness is required including the ability to walk without impairment, climb stairs and handle carry-on bags, all without assistance. At some Australian airports arriving group passengers utilize baggage carts to transport their bags to designated coach waiting areas.   For the protection of tour members, a health and fitness declaration must be completed prior to receiving final travel documents. Any potentially impacting physical, fitness or medical issues should be discussed with ASI Tours prior to signing up for the tour.

The tour visits: MELBOURNE, TASMANIA (HOBART, PORT ARTHUR, BICHENO, FREYCINET PENINSULA, COLONIAL TOWNS OF CAMPBELL TOWN, ROSS AND RICHMOND, RURAL TASMANIA), WESTERN AUSTRALIA, (PERTH, MARGARET RIVER, SOUTHWEST WA) NORTHERN TERRITORY (AYERS ROCK, ALICE SPRINGS, DARWIN, NITMILUK GORGE NATIONAL PARK, KAKADU NATIONAL PARK), NORTH QUEENSLAND COAST, (CAIRNS, CAPE TRIBULATION WILDERNESS AND RAINFOREST, GREAT  BARRIER REEF - MOORE REEF,) AND SYDNEY.

Our tours are conducted in seasons that help insure the greatest likelihood of good traveling weather throughout the tour. This is important because we visit a wide variety of climatic regions and are generally able to avoid unpleasant rain, high temperatures and humid conditions that exist at other times of the year.  Finally, we believe that careful attention and decision making must be accorded to the pacing of longer group tours.   With that in mind, we have limited single night stops in our itinerary. We also insure by design that our tour members have free time in strategic locations during the tour to explore independently and simply recharge their batteries.  Typically long travel days and required late nights are followed by relaxed mornings, the next day. This touring philosophy over the years has helped insure, at tours end, our Aussie adventurers are refreshed, relaxed and yearning for more.  We think that is exactly as it should be.

Our carefully chosen tour accommodation is also a very special feature of our Australia itinerary. In the larger cities, smaller towns and wilderness areas we use centrally located four star or best available accommodation. In several strategic locations we have spacious apartment hotel style accommodation all with kitchen facilities and most with in-room washer and dryer. Self-service laundry facilities are available at all of our properties on tour except one, a wilderness retreat in the Northern Territory.

Tour members do pre and post tour extensions on their own arrangements.
