RANDY KECK

President & Co Founder of ASI Tours LLC

Randy Keck has been a Contributing Editor for  International Travel News (ITN) since the 1980’s, when he started writing a column titled Oceania, which later became Far Horizons.  At the time, Randy and his wife, Gail, owned and operated a travel company called ASI Tours, conducting tours for groups and individuals to Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific islands and Southern Africa. They worked as tour operators for nearly two decades, during which time,  Randy led many groups to Australia and Africa.  Randy also holds the prestigious designation of an Aussie Specialist with Tourism Australia continuing to update on  all areas of tourism and travel to Australia on a weekly basis.

The flagship of ASI Tours’ offerings was a 26 day Around Australia Tour which was the only group tour that visited all Australian States and territories, in one journey.

A newly revised version of the historic Around Australia Tour is now, again, being offered.  Additionally, Randy continues to work actively in multiple facets of the tourism industry including consulting and leading international group tours for other companies.

Randy’s formal training is as a psychologist and worked as a family and university counselor in three states in Australia (Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory) as well as in California and Florida. He was one of the first Americans admitted to the Australian Psychological Society and retains a special interest in the unique field of travel psychology.

A confessed international travel addict, Randy has visited nearly 100 countries on the ITN Official List of Nations plus countless  territories and protectorates.  He has made more than 30 visits to Australia since returning to the USA on a permanent basis.

GAIL MINOFF-KECK
CEO & Co Founder of ASI Tours LLC

Gail worked in three different regions of Australia.  The position she enjoyed the most was working for the Department of Tourism and Immigration in Tasmania as an Economic Research and Development Officer, where she had the opportunity to work on and develop many tourism projects.  She has worked in multiple areas of the tourism industry in the USA as a tour operator, tour director, tourism events coordinator, web designer and tourism consultant.  She completed her training and  received her certificate as an Aussie Specialist from Tourism Australia in 2017.

Gail currently directs all operations for ASI Tours, including the newly revived version of the Incredible Around Australia Tour as well as working as web designer and webmaster.

Gail in Tasmania – September 2000

In addition to the tourism industry her other passions are,  historic restoration – including the complete restoration of a 1910 historic bank building in Virginia, turning it into a European style coffee house and art gallery.  Her heart of hearts is wrapped in the unconditional love of animals, especially the canine variety.

She held the positions of Executive Secretary and President of the Newport Council for International Visitors, Newport RI.  Gail and Randy have been sponsors for several years at the Naval War College-Newport, helping International Officers and their families assimilate into life in Newport while the officers attend a year training program at the Naval War College. Travel will always be a major factor in her life, believing that you expand your understanding and compassion for people when you seize the opportunity to experience new cultures and destinations that are foreign to your own.
